Leaning Post Sauvignon Blanc 2024 (Niagara Lakeshore)
Pale straw in colour with a lime tint; grassy, green plum and grapefruit bouquet; medium-bodied, crisply dry, gooseberry and green fruit flavours with threat of minerality ending on a leesy note. Drink now and through 2026. (91)

Leaning Post Chardonnay 2021 (Niagara Peninsula)

Why Now Is the Time to Support Local Wineries

PDU logo

The heavy snowfall this past week has had the same effect as the Covid lockdown. We don’t go out unless we have to and the cold saps our energy. Deborah and I did venture out, though, for a Port Dalhousie Underground event held at Creekside Winery. Took a while to find the place, as the winery sign had been blown down in the snow storm. A Wine Lover’s Diary, part 962: Amazing Dinner Party; Clos Vougeot x 2 and a Confession

Dinner wines

Tuesday, February 11th: We invited Ann Sperling and Peter Gamble to dinner (main course: rare filet mignon with mushroom sauce and grilled vegetables). For the apps of coconut shrimp, salami and nuts, I opened a bottle of Big Head Lipinski Chenin Blanc 2022. For the steak I chose a red Burgundy I know they would like – Remoissenet Clos Vougeot 2007. Peter brought along a bottle of his Versado 2022 for my cellar, and to go with the main course, a bottle of Domaine Jacques Prieur Clos Vougeot 2005 (great to have friends like that!). Deborah had made a dessert of Skor Bars, which we devoured with a half bottle of Cantine de’ Ricci Vin Santo di Montepulciano 1995. A delightful meal. Continue reading
