Deep ruby in colour; earthy, leathery, blackberry nose; full-bodied, dry, richly extracted, meaty but well-balanced and well-integrated oak, with a minty note on the finish. (90)

Hola Cava Reserva Organic (Barcelona, $17.95, Vintages #545848)
Golden colour with a green tint; active mousse; toasty, apple nose; medium-bodied, dry, well-balanced; yellow apple flavour. (89)

William Fèvre Chile Espino Reserva Especial 2021 (Maipo Valley, $14.95, to be released in Vintages on January 7th)
Bright straw in colour; lightly floral, apple nose; medium-bodied, dry, crisp, apple and white peach flavours. Beautifully balanced; great length; a steal at the price. (91)

Primus Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (Maipo Valley, $19.95; Vintages #4860431, to be released January 21st)
Vegan friendly; deep ruby colour; spicy, cedary, black fruit nose; medium-bodied, dry, blackcurrant, black plum flavours; firmly structured with lively acidity and evident but supple tannins. (89)

Speck Brothers Family Tree “The Bootlegger” Baco Noir 2021 (Ontario, $17.95; CSPC #16791)
Deeply coloured; savoury nose of blackberry and black olive; medium to full-bodied, dry, herbal, black cherry flavour with a touch of smoke. (89)

Henry of Pelham Old Vines Baco Noir 2021 (Ontario; $19.95, CSPC #459966)
Opaque purple-black in colour; smoky, toasty, blackberry bouquet; medium to full-bodied, dry, floral, richly extracted, spicy blackberry and black plum flavours; beautifully balanced. (90)

Henry of Pelham Sibling Rivalry Red 2020 (Niagara Peninsula, $14.95, CSPC #126151)
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Gamay. Deep ruby in color; cedary, spicy nose of black cherries with evident oak; medium-bodied, dry, sweet plummy fruit. (88.5)
