A Wine Lover’s Diary, part 803: Bachelder’s Clos Jordanne and a couple of Aussies

Thomas Bachelder with Le Clos Jordanne wines

July 10th: Thomas Bachelder came over with samples of the Le Clos Jordanne Jordan Village Chardonnay 2019 and Le Clos Jordanne Jordan Village Pinot Noir 2019; and, very thoughtfully, he brought with him a selection of charcuterie.

Le Clos Jordanne Jordan Village Chardonnay 2019 ($24.95)
Light gold in colour; toasty, spicy, minerally, apple bouquet with a vanilla note; full-bodied, richly extracted, intense, apple mango and butterscotch flavors – Puligny-Montrachet in style; beautifully balanced, great energy, well-integrated oak and great length. Amazing value. (95)

Le Clos Jordanne Jordan Village Pinot Noir 2019 ($24.95)
Intense ruby colour; a nose of ripe raspberries and violets; medium to full-bodied, dry, fleshy, raspberry flavour with a sweetness at the core; well-integrated oak and great length. Volnay style. (94)

Other wines tasted:

Jim Barry The Farm Single Vineyard Cabernet Malbec 2018 (Clare Valley, Australia, $29.95, Vintages #20881, to be released Sept. 4th)
Deep purple in colour; cedary, spicy, blackberry nose with vanilla notes; medium to full-bodied, richly extracted blackberry and currant flavours with supple tannins; well-structured with a savoury-herbal finish. (91)

Zonte’s Footstep Baron von Nemesis Shiraz 2018 (Barossa Valley)
Deep purple in colour; spicy, blackberry and chocolate nose with cedary, herbal notes; full-bodied, dry, juicy plum and blackberry flavours carried on lively acidity. (90)
