A Wine Lover’s Diary, part 1002: A Farewell to Armoires

The space left behind

Christmas Day: Drove up to Waterloo to see the grandchildren and deliver their presents. For lunch I brought along a bottle of Big Head Big Bang Sparkling Rosé. Quiet dinner at home – chicken stir-fry with a bottle of On Seven Pursuit Chardonnay 2021.

Boxing Day: Our friend John (whose birthday is on December 25th) held his party in a St. Catharines bowling alley. (They don’t call me “Gutter Ball Tony” for no reason.) Pizza and wine and then dinner in the home of his good friend Rick.

Saturday, December 27th: Today, the chest of drawers we bought at Restoration Hardware’s outlet mall arrived. Deborah had sold the Ikea wardrobe, which she had always hated. A couple arrived early on Boxing Day to dismantle it and truck it away.

Now we have to paint the wall and make good the holes where the piece was attached.

Sunday, December 28th: Much of the day spent going through clothes, in order to fit them into the drawers. Pasta dinner with a bottle of Closson Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020.
