Sunday, August 17th: Our anniversary – 24 years. We had a quiet dinner at Solaia Cucina e Cantina restaurant in St. Catherines. Deborah ordered a vegetable pasta, and I ordered grilled tuna. The restaurant sent us a dessert of Italian pastries! The wines – Adamo Pinot Noir 2019 and Ridgepoint Cabernet Merlot Reserve 2022.
Friday, August 22nd: Didn’t feel like cooking, so we decided we’d go to The Twisted Pig in Port Dalhousie for dinner. Ordered a pizza and a bottle of MW Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2024.
Saturday, August 23rd: Drove to Waterloo to celebrate our granddaughter Isla’s 9th birthday.
In the evening, to Peter Rod’s house for his annual outdoor movie evening. The film was Babette’s Feast and we were asked to bring a French wine in keeping with the theme. I brought a bottle of Les Chassagnes de La Nerthe Châteauneuf du Pape 2015. Bouillabaisse and bœuf bourguignon were on the menu – and a lot of fine wines. I particularly enjoyed Château Chalon 2005 and Domaine Le Couroulu Vacqueras 1998.
Other wines enjoyed with dinner this week: Little Engine Pinot Noir 2020, Marynissen Pinot Grigio 2024, Featherstone Redtail Merlot 2022, Studio by Miraval Rosé 2024, Malivoire Rosé Moira 2023.
